Machined from solid 6061 tool stock aluminum for long life and designed for use with our phenolic motor casings listed above. Each set contains base, four propellant coring spindles (two each of two diameters), pulling handle, centering rings, 10 delay element liners and compression ram and complete instructions (propellant formulae not included). You can machine your own nozzles out of graphite, phenolic, fiberglass or Teflon rod stock or they can be made with our nozzle forming tool sets listed herein.

NOZZLE FORMING TOOL SETS - MOLDED GRAPHITE COMPOSITE ROCKET MOTORS

Machined from high carbon steel and aluminum, these tool sets offer the hobbyist a means to make high heat & erosion resistant graphite composite nozzles for use in higher combustion temp composite rocket motors and others. The sets consist of a heavy wall carbon steel mold sleeve, base with divergence forming cone and a ram which is completely adjustable according to the degree of erosion and heat/gas resistance required. You can design and produce nozzles to burn out slightly for core burning geometries or those that have little or no erosive loss to retain full pressure during combustion for bates grain and moon burning geometries, etc. Make 25 to 50 nozzles per hour for as little as $0.15 each! Using a mixture of powdered graphite and other materials, you simply add a measured amount of mix to the mold sleeve, compress to a mark on the ram and eject. The more pressure used, the higher the density and the more erosion resistant they are. Once you have several, they are cure baked in an oven and drilled any diameter you need for the proper exhaust bent - fully adjustable for pressure release! The sets produce nozzle pellets the diameters listed which are shrink controlled by the oven heat. They are designed to fit the casings listed for each but can be made to fit casings of similar size as well.

CARBON GRAPHITE CLOTH HEAT SHIELDING - LINER & GASKET MATERIAL

Used by NASA for heat shielding and protection where direct heat, flame or high heat transfer is a problem. Flexible cloth-like weave (carbonized rayon fibers) and super thin web (.027" thick) enables its use most anywhere including fireproof gaskets and casing liners in rocket motors or other devices, blast plate protection on launch pads or welding applications, firewalls, etc. Use to line inner casings and cast or compress propellants, smoke comps, etc. directly into them for protection from burn-through. Lowest cost insurance money can buy! Easily cut with scissors or punched with disc cutters.

NOZZLE INSULATION & BUSHING STOCK - FIBERGLASS

Often the choice for suitable low cost or scrap expendable motor casing material doesn't quite match available bulkhead and nozzle stocks. This high strength, rigid, cured, heat resistant, fiberglass sheathing may be epoxy laminated inside casing to fit smaller nozzle od's. It's rough texture easily accepts epoxies and bonds well to both motor casing and nozzle. Also acts as an insulator to drain extreme heat being transferred by highly conductive nozzle materials such as graphite or exotic metals. Thus, protecting the casing from possible burn through or other damage. Can be cut with shears or scissors, drilled and machined. All are fiberglass cloth and .040" thick.

CERAMIC & OTHER HIGH REFRACTORY POWDERS
The following refractories can be used for heat shielding and/or to make plugs and exhaust vents (nozzles) in rocket motors, smoke devices, etc., etc. They are listed in order according to thier heat resistance, with clay being the lowest @ 2300°F and is used to make objects that are baked in an oven @ 1600°F, forming the ceramic glass figurines.  Grog is crushed ceramic 'grit' added to fire clay to add texture to the finished figurines or add the "bite" necessary to hold nozzles in place when compressed within paper casings as with black powder type rocket motors.

CARBOSPHERES - CONDUCTIVE CARBON POWDER - HOLLOW MICROSPHERES
This specially developed, low density carbon powder was ordered by NASA for the (now cancelled) New Advanced Space Shuttle Project. The material cost the government well over $125.00 per pound and was never used. We have all 80 drums @50 lbs net each. Although the manufacturer could give us no information on it's application, they did tell us the material is pure carbon, low density (.198 g/cc), light weight, conductive powder of 99.7 wt % passing 50 mesh and 22.7 wt % passing 325 mesh. Capable of withstanding temperatures well in excess of 4000°F and very lightweight, it should make excellent nozzles to increase heat resistance and reduce both weight and abrasive wear on spindle. It may also be used as a mold release agent (dry lubricant) in that it is "slick" like it's older brother Graphite - yet lighter in weight. Also great for use in conductive bridge-wireless electric igniters!! Can be milled to reduce particle size if needed. Full 50 lb drums can be shipped by UPS.
